Well, for the last couple of years I have been buying lots of guns. Usually if it’s something that I want that is a smoking hot deal on sale or gently used. Unlike most of the handgun purchases I have made in the last couple of years, I did set out to buy one specific rifle and one specific shotgun.

I waited and planned and “pounced” when I got something of a deal. Both of them came from Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops.

I had got a CZ over/under shotgun with a nice case and five chokes in 12 gauge with a 3 inch chamber, 28 inch barrels and walnut furniture for around $550.00 on sale and with my Veterans Discount added to the sale price. I thought it was a good deal. They are usually around $700. It was a Cabela’s exclusive model, basically a CZ Redhead.

Also, I purchased a Colt AR15 A4 from them on sale with my discount added to it for just under $1050.00. These are usually around the $1200.00 mark. $1140 to $1299 depending on where you buy. I prefer to buy from an actual store like Bass Pro as even if they don’t have it in stock, it can be shipped to the store and I get a discount and don’t have to pay for a transfer…just the background check.

I have kind of been sitting for awhile, buying parts for guns and parts for builds, buying used parts here and there…..but no actual guns. Now I have found something totally cool that I want. It’s about $1250 and I will have to pay shipping and pay for a transfer in addition to the background check. Check this out…..

This is a really good replica of the M-16 A1’s that we shot in the Air Force when I was in, back in the 1980’s. We got the leftovers from Vietnam that the other branches used while the Army and Marines got the new M4’s and such. These are like what we had. No forward assist. 1 in 12 twist. It will be as much of a nostalgia trip for me as my Sigmas are.

A whole firearm? Not recently, but I've got an Armory Craft ported P365 slide/barrel, and a couple of P320 grips, and P365 grips. 16" side charging 9mm BCA upper all inbound. I am looking at 2011 type 'open optics division' pistols, but so far they're out of my reach. I'd like a Kimber, or SIG but Girsan, Tisas, and Rock Island Armory are more likely. My 2 new side gigs are having trouble replacing the job I walked off of. Sometimes scruples are expensive.

A lot of modern setups are more capable on paper but there’s something about the simplicity and feel of those older patterns that makes them satisfying to own and shoot.

I am also looking to get another Italian Beretta 92 by the end of summer. I am just waiting on the right deal. I just want a plain black one. I have an M9A3 and a two tone Italian 92FS.

Personally I have nothing on my 'horizon' I plan on purchasing.

I have never bought guns with a 'paranoiac' fervor as I often read about some people doing. I certainly have had a long term, active interest in guns, shooting and reloading but it has typically been limited to certain styles and models and I concentrate on them as opposed to just non stop buying of cheap, plastic fantastics I have virtually no interest in. I don't get it sometimes. The way some people describe buying guns its like they are 'addicted' to it and can't stop!

Actually I do have something I would like (If one were to ever 'come my way) and that is a Mod 64 'Deluxe' Winchester .30-30. Unfortunately these have increased with collector interest over the past several years - along with prices! - so it may never become a reality.

My son collects old firearms. He only has one Plastic Fantastic that I gave him for a carry gun. It came with 2 mags, a holster (paddle), mag carrier and a light in the case.

They usually ran for 450 to 600 bucks each but I bought two of them on sale for $430 for both on a close out sale. They are SAR 9’s. His had the holster and extra goodies. Got them from PSA. That is the only recent, modern pistol he has.

I bought him a 138 year old Trapdoor Springfield for his birthday. He also has an older, reproduction sharps that is from the 70’s. He has a SAA, a Derringer, and and a black powder revolver. Or at least he did have. I think he may have given that one to his uncle.

Those SAR’s are tools. Guns you won’t cry about the police taking if you have to use them in self defense.

He also has a 1911 and a couple of Berettas as well as a Python. Generally, if it isn’t old or historical, he’s not interested.

A guy has it made if he simply wants a black and plastic rifle or pistol. They are everywhere, all the same at one store as the next.

But if you want something else, good luck.🤞

All I want right now is a Henry Tracker Carbine.

Used to be called the Small Game Carbine. But no... ain't no card carrying tactical store gonna lower themselves by carrying such a useful item.

Kinda how I have always been in a way. I mean I like certain modern firearms but those of the more traditional, high quality models such as S&W revolvers, Colts, 1911s and certain Hi Cap semi auto pistols and rifles.

Like I have said before guns & shooting (for me) has always been a hobby and sport first hand - and therefore I always 'gravitated' to the higher quality, more traditional rifles and handguns.

I actually owned a Glock once - an early G-17 but wound up selling it later. The more I shot it the less I liked it. I Didn't like the grip angle and the inability to swap grips as well.

I don't have any plastic hand guns and never have . A couple of Hogue rubber over molded rifle stocks on my Howa hunting rifles. The hand guns I have are mostly old school Berettas, Smith revolvers, m1911's and a couple CZ's. I think of myself more of a traditionalist

And I just bought another pistol. Waiting for it to arrive. Today I shot five new to me handguns for the first time. I still have five more new ones that have yet to be fired. Maybe I will next week.
