Very nice but when it comes to S & W I'll stick with the classics!

I'm enjoying semi automatic pistols today as I had to carry a Model 28 for a number of decades.

You 'had' to carry a Mod 28? You didn't have a choice? Such as maybe a 'K' frame Smith?

What department/location did you work as LE where you carried a Mod 28?

Did you leave LE before semi autos began to replace revolvers?

I wasn't issued that particular Model 28, but my father was, and I was allowed to carry it. I think the standard issue in my day was a probably a 686. There was an approved list, but anyone above Sargent could carry what they wanted, and a few of my partners carried 1911 pistols that their dad had carried in the big war. I worked my way up from patrol to detective, and spent many years undercover eventually infiltrating several notorious criminal organizations. Off duty I favored a stainless Rossi 720 in .44 spec that I bought in the late 70's, and traded last year for a pile of P320s. I'd bought a CZ75, and later a TZ75 but never felt either was fit for duty, but enjoyed them greatly at the range. The pile of P320s sent me down the P320 rabbit hole - now I've mixed and matched parts so many times that I don't know how many of them I actually have. This Frankenstein AXG/TXG Legion is my current fave.

Thank you, I'm trying to get into USPSA without actually spending $2500 on a double stack 1911. It may be a fools errand, but that's always been my style - I love a $20 solution to a $500 problem... But then I'm cheap, er thrifty ;-)
