There is our very own Gold Member ST and friends shooting on a large area rug and police ing his brass out in Mother Nature. This kind of behavior reflects well on the shooting community. Leave no trace. Good on you zisr! This keeps areas from being shut down to shooting. It really helps.

The rug is an important part of our shooting gear, we never shoot without it.

Yep, I have done this many times myself but typically use a plastic tarp (easier to handle) .

I can't say I do this ALL the time however I don't often shoot massive amounts of ammo and can usually find all my brass.

We think the rug is classier ;)
We only shot 360 rounds 9mm, 240 rounds 30sc, and 500 rounds WMR yesterday (we got a late start). We loose more 30sc than anything as none of them are consistent at location of ejected brass - that's what jr is in the ground looking for.

This is one of the biggest problems with SA guns - IE those that do NOT eject brass consistently. Some do some don't.

I've had pretty good luck with those I have owned but the worst recently is my Ruger PCC. It shoots great and accurately but had been ejecting the brass all over the place.

I say 'had been' because I recently discovered the ejector was out of adjustment and the stock extractor was bad (known issue with the PCC) and Ruger sent me a new one.

I am hoping the new extractor and adjusting the ejector solves the problem! I have yet to test it out!

I hope that works! My son's EZ (SAO internal hammer) is the worst - one will land 3' away at 4 o'clock, and the next will be 15' away at 2 o'clock, and the next 10' away at 10 o'clock, then 5' at 7 o'clock in a circular fashion but advancing 30 minutes or so each revolution. Weird right?

So do I ! However to be more specific when I first got it, it shot well and accurately but was ejecting brass inconsistently and at first I didn't think much about it until I started noticing the forward edge of the ejecting port beginning to show bare alloy and I realized some cases were striking it.

Well, I began to look into it and realized this was a common problem. Part of it is/was the extractor and I discovered it was due to the 'hook' on it being very short and they were wearing fairly quickly, hence Ruger sending me a new one. The original can be temporarily fixed by filing the metal down in front of the hook and increasing it's length but it will probably not last.

The second part was the ejector not being adjusted correctly. It is a odd design but fortunately adjustable and I discovered it is SUPPOSED to ride in a 'channel' on the bolt slightly making contact with with it but it was about an 1/8" too low so I adjusted it up.

Here is the wear on the ejector port from the brass striking it.

Here is the original extractor AFTER filing. The hook was pretty well worn down. I never tried it as I contacted Ruger and they sent me new one.

Here is the new extractor. I look s a 'little' better with the hook cut a but differently with 'depression' below it so it should more positively 'grab' the case rim.

Rug would be better for prone shooting.

Man, if they ever do a clean up in my neck of the woods, I will be there. Even though I can’t probably do a lot, I can bring prizes for the ones that do. I already talked to the organizer.

You all know that I am a mag whorder. I will bring budget mags to give away, and you guys can report back to me on them. Yes a future thread coming on those.

I am about to start ranging my collection of plastic fantastic pistols for a coming thread/article. It’s always fun to share and interact with you guys and gals on our shared passions.
