Extractors on budget ARs seem to break constantly. I've replaced more extractors than any other part. They're cheap and easy to fix, but it's annoying that they fail as often as they do..
It is amazing something that tiny decides whether your rifle runs or becomes an expensive club.Extractors failed on our Army M16's also. It's a tiny little part held by a tiny pin. Size must be small to fit in the relatively small bolt for a small cartridge head but still be required to operate extensively and violently with high frequency, extreme speed, and high pressures.
For recreational use, the AR platforms work fine, but in a military environment, they were very fragile.
