What Is Your Favorite Shooting Range?

I'm curious about everyone's favorite shooting range. Do you prefer indoor or outdoor options? What is it about your go-to place that keeps you coming back?

Mine is the Jackson County Sports Park Shooting Complex here in S. Oregon.

I'm a member of Tri-County Gun Club in Tualatin. Very happy there. Lots of range choices, very safe, good amenities, lot's of classes. I also like going to Threat Dynamics but I haven't been since I started my membership at Tri-County. I much prefer the outdoors at Tri-County.

I prefer to be in the woods or desert.

But... I belong to Canby Gun Club.
It's relatively close and is extremely convenient for me, for an extended shooting session, or just to quickly wring out a new firearm.

I've been a member at ARPC (Albany Rifle and Pistol Club) for a good many years. Nearby, and during the week when most are working, I have no issues finding an open bay and shooting by my self.

Florence has a great but private range, Siuslaw rod and gun club. I am allowed to bring in 2 guests so give me a shout if headed to the seashore, ,it';s open all day every day and has ranges to 300 yds,and as up close as 5 feet on the pistol range. and NO range fees, imagine that !!

Honestly, I'm still exploring ranges around Oregon, haven't found a go-to yet. I'm leaning outdoor for the fresh air and space, I have seen some great suggestions on this forum

Because of where I live I border the Deschutes Ntl Forest and have several outdoor areas I use.

If I were closer I would probably use COSSA more but I am about 45 minutes away. I was a member for a couple years but only used it a few times.

Here is one of my favorite places near me!

Here is another I haven't used in a while but is very close (about 10 minutes) but it is open with minimal shade so for summer use it is a problem.

I used to shoot at the Baron;s Den when Walt was alive. Now it’s called Northwest Arsenal. I haven’t been there in about a year and a half. It was dilapidated. Holes in the carpet everywhere. Broken chairs. Ceiling tiles shot to hell, and the cables on four of the lanes for the targets were broken.

I almost biffed it on the concrete using one of their broken chairs on the range. When I went to tell one of the employees, a really young guy, he gave me attitude. I told him his attitude would change when someone injures themselves and sues them.

They are a gun store as well, with very little stock, and they charge 70 dollars for an FFL transfer. And the fees are exorbinant. Also, the rental guns haven’t been updated in years. Still the same guns that were there in the 1990’s. Poor selection of accessories as well. I don’t know how they stay in business.
Seriously, that place has gone downhill.

Emerald Empire Gun Club is much better for me. It’s well maintained and outdoors. The staff is friendly. The fees are reasonable.

I used to shoot IDPA out at Izzak Walton. They are too far for me to drive now, but EEGC is a 20 minute drive at most for me.

Agree the Barons Den is no longer what Walt had going. Walt told me he soon realized the great expense required for filtering the range ventilation. That was the first strike. What really hurt was letting the boys run the place. After a run in with one, I quit and never looked back. Although one time later I stopped in just to see. Saw nothing exciting except a display of a stippled grip, I asked about it and then got in touch with a recruiter who did a great job on my PPQ.

I am about 20 miles from EEGC. I think it is a valid claim that for 60 years I have driven to the range more than any other place except around my neighborhood, store, work, etc..

Well this would a good indication. Oddly on their website it's refereed to as 'subscription service' but regardless dropping it would be a good indication they are possibly planning on shutting down. No memberships to to pay back if they do close. Heck, they probably got a great offer on the property and don't care about running it anymore,

No personal experience as I do not live in the area but I remember visiting it once when it was the Baron's Den and knew a lot of people that used to shoot there.
