First time on the local forum. Moved to Southern Oregon this past summer from the Bend area. Lifetime shooter, hunter and reloader. I haven’t had time to shoot yet in this area but would like some feedback on the Jackson County shooting park. I have been on LRH for years. Mostly read articles but don’t post much. I have never hunted elk, only deer and small game in CA, Utah, Kentucky and Tennessee. I’m older now so I don’t hunt those mountains
Like I did in my 40s.

Welcome! Jackson County shooting park is good for practice. Elk hunting’s different, but your experience with deer and small game will help a lot.

When we lived in Central Oregon we had elk in the back yard. Herd migrated by every week or so. I counted more than 60

Not many Elk on my property but lotsa deer almost everyday!

When we lived south of Bend the deer would get into everything.

I checked out the Jackson county shooting range yesterday. It is actually quite nice. There are 9 total ranges for just about everything from archery to rifles. Didn’t shoot but spoke to the RO for a while.
Looks like 200 yards is max but that’s ok for now.
