Since so many identical threads on WA Sporting Forum are initiated for traffic and then same for the OR Sporting forum site I thought I'd do the same. I have a personal interest in both states I could do the same for more states in the recent deployment of this state based initiative, but I'll stick with WA and OR. So here's the question: It's getting to be that time again when people head out to get their trophies I think its already happened in OR. Don't you love getting a fantastic creature when its 100f (a different subject)? But, if you are not a land owner:
- What's your best and favorite method to know where you are?
- What if there's no cell service?
- If you use GPS, how do you know where the boundaries are located on the device's map display?
There's some cool technology out there. Our county's web in WA site has a pretty cool and detailed interactive GIS map including property lines. Unfortunately there is not an overlay with the hunting district(s). And more frustrating is that the cell coverage is pretty spotty.
So if you go hunting and cross from one place to another ownership, and according to your license, what's your favorite response for being there?
- I shot and wounded it and have to track it. Sorry if it crossed property lines. You wouldn't want the animal to be wasted, right?;
- I have hunted this place since I was a kid and have permission. (They know zero names. Maybe they poached as a kid just like Dad taught them);
- Your neighbor gave me permission (but their is no such neighbor);
- This is state ground and a state road and I have a right:
- They are tanked with side arms and high powered rifles and it's just better to say they were scaring your butterflies. The'y th'at with a li'thsp and limp hand.
- And my personal favorite, like with ATV trails, private land should not be locked off. It should be free for everyone's use. Of course they don't feel the same about their lawn and the cost from the lawn service to fix it.
