What's the latest on Oregon SB 243 and Bill 114

I heard lately that it will soon be in effect.

From what I’ve seen, SB 243 passed and should kick in next year, while Measure 114 is still tied up in court challenges

SB 243 took effect on 9/26/2025, not some time next year. It's now current law.

The magazine ban and permit to purchase effective date is March 15, 2026. So buy what you need now. Rapid fire devices are now illegal per SB 243 as of a couple of days ago.

If this mag bs goes into effect, I will be carrying revolvers and 1911’s. I am working on getting my sights replaced on my 2024 Python in preparation. I might buy another RXM as well.

Well, at least we can still use our “high caps” for home defense and at ranges. Just not carry out in public. Keep your receipts for any high caps you buy before March as you will have to prove you owned them prior to the effective date.

I did buy ten rounders for my double stacks for carry in public. But if the state is gonna neutered my capacity I will go with 8 rounds of 45ACP or six of 357 magnum out in the sewers of Eugene(which is half the city).
