When it comes to keeping a firearm near the bed at night, what do you choose and why? I'm curious if you prefer something compact for quick access or a full-size with added features like a light or safe.

Right now, my bedside gun is usually just my EDC. I do have a shotgun in a corner if things were to get real nasty!😁

Right now it;s my Colt Python snubby. I like having a revolver as a bedside gun because you can leave it loaded forever and not have to worry about rotating rounds.

It's gonna be an Sig P320 Compat. The FBI release a report. They were able to reproduce the uncommanded discharges.

A couple of YouTubers have videos, one reproduced the issue 5 times in a row and no you can't give them away, let alone ethically sell them. So I bought a CAA chassis, NOS, for 99 bucks.

I will keep it set up in the chassis with an empty chamber. It won't get shot much.

The wife keeps her Sig .45 and .38 there, somewhere, because it would be a cold day in Hades before she ever tried the combo dial on the safe. But there's a .22 by the porch door, a ranch rifle by the front door and a H&K .308 in the back room. Not that we'd need them with three Catahoula dogs in the house overnight.

We've been accosted over night in the past. Two times by bear toppling feed cans, a cougar killed and feasted on a sheep. And the night before last a skunk in the live trap by the deck 😧 .

When I was growing up, my grand dad had a ranch. Cougars would come down every summer to drink from the creek. Then they went for the sheep. We shot cougars on sight.

At 'home' we've gotten quite lax regarding security for misbehaving people. For many years the only trouble we've had coincides with hunting seasons and even then it's somebody's guests that go out roaming with no regard for property lines. It only takes a tune-up to coach them that there are people who live here along with emphasis on what direction they are shooting.

Our biggest concerns are people with open exhausts/no spark arrestor, tannerite games, etc. If someone shows up here they are severely lost.

Here is my bedroom gun now….

This photo was taken on my dogs bed. Between the gun and the dog, I feel pretty safe at home now.
