Hey everyone, with Thanksgiving week here, I just wanted to open a simple thread. What are you grateful for this year? Feel free to share whatever comes to mind. Hope you all have a great week!
That’s a meaningful perspective, every day above ground truly is a gift. And having family around you makes it all the richer. Glad you’re here with us!I am grateful for my family, and the miracle of still being above ground.
You’re lucky, and it’s great you recognize itIt hits me sometimes how lucky I am to have people who let me be me
That’s incredibly loving of you. Sharing that meal and time with your mom will mean more than anything. Wishing you both a meaningful, peaceful Thanksgiving together...those moments are truly priceless. My mom and my wife and I have been eating TV dinners on thanksgiving and Christmas for the past six years. It wasn’t bad, believe me. We did it for convenience and not having to do the dishes afterward. We would just sit around and watch football.
But my mom is soon to be 81 and has had Parkinson’s for 10 years. She is sliding down hill. This may be her last Thanksgiving. So I am making a big meal. Turkey, potatoes, gravy vegetables and steaks. It’s just going to be me and her.
She is too weak and tired to go with us to my wife’s family Turkey Day soirée in the neighboring town. So my wife is going to Cottage Grove (we live in Eugene/Springfield.just a mile away from my mom) to be with her kids and sisters, and I will stay with my mom and my dog. I still have to pick up the steaks and some wine tomorrow.
